Mrs Warwick commenced her General Nurse Training at Blackburn Royal Infirmary England in 1991 and once qualified her Perioperative career began within the obstetric and gynaecological theatres. On arrival to Perth Western Australia Mrs Warwick has maintained her Perioperative career taking on Perioperative roles within the Private and Public hospital sectors.
Mrs Warwicks principle area of work has been at Fremantle Hospital and Health Service were she has worked as a Registered Nurse within the operating suite and climbed the career ladder and currently holds the position of Staff Development Educator for Perioperative Services and Course Coordinator for the Graduate Diploma in Perioperative Nursing. This program is undertaken through Fremantle Hospital and Health Service and the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle Campus.
Mrs Warwick holds a Graduate Certificate in Health Science for completing the Perioperative Nurse Surgeon’s assistant (PNSA) Course in 2002 and in 2006 completed her Masters in Nursing through Curtin University. Mrs Warwick does not currently practice as a PNSA but still holds a keen interest in the role and how it can be developed for the future.
Mrs Warwick has been an active member of the Operating Room Nurses Association (ORNA)of Western Australia holding many positions including ORNA President, ORNA Education Coordinator, ACORN Representative and ACORN Director. During her time on the ORNA Committee she has assisted the team in putting together a yearly, successful state conference, helped streamline some of the documentation and organised and facilitated study days which included:
- Anaesthetic and Recovery Room Workshop
- ACORN & ORNA Update Workshop
- Count Standard Workshop
- Management Workshop
- Country workshops in Geraldton and Bunbury
s Warwick is currently still a member of the ORNA Committee to help advise new members and help them settle into their committee roles
As the Western Australian ACORN Representative and Director Mrs Warwick had the opportunity to Chair the Education and Research Committee and during this time she was:
- Instrumental in reviewing and re producing the Scrubbing, Gowning, Gloving DVD.
- Facilitated review and accreditation of courses submitted to ACORN following ACORN’s accreditation criteria.
- Assisted in judging the poster competition for the 2010 conference
- Active member of the 2010 ACORN Conference Committee.
Mrs Warwick was elected to the ACORN President’s role for the commencement of the 2010 – 2012 ACORN board. This role also involves active participation on the International Federation of Perioperative Nurses (IFPN) Board and (International Congress of Nursing (ICN) Board.
Mrs Warwick is very passionate about perioperative nursing, how training is undertaken and perioperative practice governed.
Mrs Warwick is married with two young children and enjoys spending her free time with her family. |
