We are using all the standards as a framework for competencies, orientation, and policy formation for the hospital. It is a HUGE job and we have just started but its a useful tool for our unit. We are a dynamic bunch these days! There is also talk of dividing the standards up with colleges and having presentations throughout the year, using the standards as a guide to source the most current and up to date information for best practice!

The PACU at Canberra Hospital is a DSU, Trauma, and Peads and then your regular Elective surgery based, so we see alot of patients in one day. We need and love the ACORN standards as an important education tool.
