About ACORN

Australian College of Operating Room Nurses Inc


Australian College of Operating Room Nurses represents over 4,000 nurses nationally. Our members practice across many perioperative environments that include operating theatres, day surgery units, anaesthetics, post anaesthetics, x-ray departments, the military, management, and educational settings. Our College activities focus on the care of patients before during and after surgery or anesthetic intervention and professional issues.

The College has strong professional relationships with other peak national nursing bodies, government agencies and individuals. Our ACORN Standards are the benchmark for practice in perioperative settings and in demand nationally and internationally. Our relationships extend to our health care partners (our corporate members ), as well as the  International Federation of  Perioperative Nursing (IFPN). ACORN is a foundation member of the IFPN and the ACORN President is your representative.

Our website aims to provide a description of our College and its activities. It will also maintain links to sites of interest to nurses and other members of the health care team responsible for patient care.
