As ACORN President it is my pleasure to invite you to attend our 17th National Conference to be held in Hobart, Tasmania from the 25th to 28th May 2016.
The biennial ACORN Conference is the highlight of the Australian perioperative nursing professional calendar; offering delegates the perfect combination of education, industry access, networking, and frivolity.
Our organising committee is working tirelessly to develop a world class scientific and social program to top the success of our last conference in Melbourne which attracted over 1,000 delegates and 80 trade partners.
The conference theme – a devil of a time – is open to your interpretation but we intend for it to evoke images of the hardship faced by early convict prisoners and also that feisty native carnivorous marsupial, the Tasmanian Devil.
I am delighted to announce that the International Federation of Perioperative Nursing’s Biennial Meeting will be held in conjunction with our Conference. This creates a fantastic opportunity for perioperative nurses from around the world to come together and share their knowledge and insights with each other.
The scientific committee invites you to submit an abstract to present your research or project in oral or poster format. This year for the first time we also call for proposals for education sessions on clinically relevant topics ranging in scope from beginner to expert level.
When planning your conference attendance I encourage you to set aside extra time to explore Tasmania and its rugged wilderness areas, historic towns, national parks, and world heritage sites.
I hope to see you next May in Hobart for a ‘devil of a time’.
