2026 ACORN Standards - Author contribution declaration

All contributing authors, co-authors and reviewers involved in the development of the 2026 edition of the ACORN Standards are required to complete the author contribution and declaration eForm (below).

This process ensures transparency, accountability and recognition of the expertise and effort invested in producing these evidence-based standards. The declaration outlines each contributor’s specific role—whether in drafting, reviewing, editing or providing subject matter expertise—and affirms adherence to ACORN’s principles of integrity, collaboration, and ethical authorship. By formally documenting individual contributions, ACORN upholds robust governance practices and maintains the credibility of the standards development process. Completion of this form also ensures appropriate acknowledgement of all participants in published materials and reinforces ACORN’s commitment to professional excellence, inclusivity and transparency in the creation of perioperative nursing standards that guide safe, high-quality patient care across Australia.

Note: if you have contributed to multiple standards and evidence summaries, you only need to complete one of these forms.

Lead authorship criteria

To qualify for authorship (lead or co-author) status, individuals must meet the following criteria:
• substantial contribution to evidence gathering, extraction and analysis or drafting/revision of the content
• substantial contribution to standard formation, application of evidence or drafting/revision of the content
• accountability for accuracy and integrity of the content.

Reviewer criteria

• Detailed feedback: Comprehensive review including critique of methodology, interpretation of evidence and evaluation of content accuracy.
• Brief feedback: Focused comments addressing key points, clarity or specific sections of the standard or evidence summary.
• Minimal/nil feedback: Minor or no substantive feedback provided; general review and endorsement only.
