University of Tasmania and ACORN partnership
ACORN has partnered with the University of Tasmania (UTAS) to offer a postgraduate nursing program with specialisations in
- Preoperative nursing
- Anaesthetics and recovery nursing
- Leadership in practice*
- Clinical nursing and teaching*.
* These are two new specialist streams that are available from Semester 1 2018.
As a member of ACORN you can study these specialisations and receive a 75 per cent scholarship on your HECS fees. From 1 January 2019, scholarships will be for 50 per cent of the HECS fee.
The courses are flexible, part time and delivered online which means you can advance your nursing career with outstanding postgraduate education while maintaining a healthy professional and personal life balance.
- Graduate Certificate in Nursing (1 year, part time)
- Graduate Diploma of Nursing (2 years, part time)
- Bachelor of Nursing, Professional Honours (2 years, part time, with a research component).
The 'Anaesthetics and recovery' stream can be selected as electives for those completing a diploma.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship you must apply for the Bachelor of Nursing, Professional Honours (course code H4F). If you choose to finish studying after one year you will graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (H5F). If you choose to finish studying after two years without undertaking research you will graduate with a Graduate Diploma of Nursing (H6F).
If you apply for the Graduate Certificate in Nursing or the Graduate Diploma of Nursing, and not the Bachelor of Nursing, Professional Honours, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.

In order to apply for one of these courses you will need to be a Registered nurse in Australia with at least six months full-time experience in relevant nursing practice within the last five years.
While undertaking the 'Perioperative nursing' or 'Anaesthetics and recovery nursing' specialisation you will need access to a relevant healthcare setting.
In order to be eligible for an ACORN member scholarship you must be a current member of ACORN. You must submit proof of membership when you apply for the Bachelor of Nursing, Professional Honours (course code H4F). Please contact ACORN, on email@example.com, for a proof of membership letter.
