ACORN Three Minute Thesis Competition

The ACORN Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition celebrates the exciting perioperative research conducted by Australian higher degree research students. The 3MT cultivates students’ academic, presentation and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

Thank you to all our 3MT entrants!

The videos were assessed by our judging panel and scored for how comprehensible the content was and how engaging the presentation was. All the entries were of a high callibre and the scoring was very close but Toni Hains's video scored a few points above the others. Congratulations Toni!

Toni’s research examines the role and funding of nurse practitioners (NPs) as surgical assistants in Australia. Watch Toni's video to hear her research explained using accessible language in just three minutes.

Toni receives:

  • A complete set of the 12 ACORN Practice Audit Tools (PATs)
  • ACORN Surgical hand antisepsis, gowning and gloving DVD
  • A copy of Nursing and Midwifery Research: Methods and Appraisal for Evidenced Based Practice 6th edition.
