ACORN Awards

Excellence in Perioperative Nursing

Excellence in Perioperative Nursing (EiPN) awards are presented to ACORN members who have made an outstanding contribution to perioperative nursing. Nominations are made by a local association or by the ACORN board and the awards are presented at the biennial national conference.

An EiPN award is presented in the following three categories – Individual, Novice and Team.

Nominations and applications will open in the lead up to the ACORN Conference 2024.

Judith Cornell Oration

The Judith Cornell Oration (JCO) is delivered by a person, chosen by the board, who has made an outstanding contribution to perioperative nursing in Australia. The JCO is delivered at the biennial national conference.

Nominations and applications will open in the lead up to the ACORN Conference 2024.

G.A.S. Awards

During International Perianaesthesia Week in February, the ACORN G.A.S. awards highlight those who advocate for not only our patients, but for our future perianaesthesia nursing profession. They are Guiding to novice nurses, they are Approachable to colleagues, patients, and visitors, and have a Special gift of seeing the unseen.

Thank you to our perioperative community for the outstanding number of moving nominations. It was incredibly difficult to choose winners with so many wonderful perianaesthesia nurses making such a big difference every day to their perioperative teams, patients, and the wider Australian community.

G.L.U.E Awards

During Perioperative Nurses Week in October the ACORN G.L.U.E. awards acknowledging a special nurse who keeps the team together ‘like glue’. They are Genuine, they make you Laugh, they are Unique, and above all, show Empathy.
