Expression of Interest: Represent ACORN members in developing the next iteration of the ACORN Standards

Are you a passionate and experienced ACORN member with a strong commitment to advancing perioperative practice across Australia? Here’s your chance to make a significant impact! We are seeking dedicated members to participate in and represent the ACORN members' perspectives in the development of the new iteration of the ACORN Standards.

 

This is a voluntary role and an excellent opportunity to have your voice heard in shaping the future of perioperative practice, ensuring that the best standards are upheld across Australia’s healthcare sector.

 

As part of this role, you will be responsible for gathering and appraising research, so experience in this area is essential. We are looking for individuals who are familiar with critically evaluating evidence and who can contribute to the development of well-rounded and evidence-based standards.

Workstream teams:

Infection control

 

  • Asepsis
  • Patient skin antisepsis
  • Surgical hand antisepsis, gowning and gloving

Instrumentation management

 

  • Accountable items
  • Sharps and preventing sharps related injury
  • Re-usable instruments, equipment and devices

Hazards and safety

 

  • Electrosurgical safety
  • Laser safety
  • Surgical plume

Environmental

 

  • Cleaning & maintaining the perioperative environment
  • Perioperative attire
  • Specimen identification collection and handling

Patient safety

 

  • Hypothermia
  • Patient positioning and manual handling
  • Latex & chlorhexidine sensitivities

Other

 

  • Environmentally sustainable practices 
  • Perioperative team communication
  • Visitors to perioperative environment

 

To express your interest, please submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) letter outlining your relevant experience and skills via the eForm below. In your submission, be sure to select your preferred workstream team from the dropdown menu.

 

All submissions will be carefully reviewed by the ACORN team and the Chair of the respective workstream team. We are committed to ensuring a diverse and representative cross-section of cohorts throughout the development phase of these standards.
