Entitlements

Full conference registration entitles you to:

  • admission to all conference sessions 

  • a ticket to the welcome reception*

  • a ticket to the conference dinner*

  • a conference satchel

  • morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day.

*Please indicate attendance via the registration form.

Day and Student registrations do not include the Welcome Reception or the Conference dinner. You can purchase additional tickets if you wish to attend these.

Social functions 

The two main social functions are the Welcome Reception and the Conference Dinner. Tickets to these are included in the full conference registration (but not day and student registrations).

You must indicate whether you will attend the social functions when you register.

Conference Dinner

Date: Saturday 30 May 2020

Venue: Grand Ballroom, International Convention Centre Sydney

Tickets: included in registration for full conference delegates

A limited number of additional tickets are available for $125.00

Gaining support to attend

Many travel and training budgets have been reduced which means that regardless of the merits of a conference, you’ll need to justify the expense. Use the samples below to help you approach your supervisor for support to attend the conference.

Tips on justifying conference expenses

Here are some things to consider.

  • Focus on what you’ll specifically bring back to your workplace as return for the investment. 

  • Offer to deliver a short presentation to your co-workers to share what you learnt. That way others in your unit will also benefit from your attendance. 

  • If you’re working to obtain or maintain your certification, remind your supervisor that this is a great way to earn contact hours and it's less expensive than registering for separate conferences and requires less time away from work than attending different events. 

  • Be ready with a plan that shows who could cover your shifts while you’re attending the conference.

  • Offer to share a room to reduce hotel expenses.

  • Be sure to check out the various rates listed at the top of this page to see if you qualify for any of the lower rates or discounts.

Accommodation 

ACORN has booked rooms and apartments at nearby hotels for the benefit of conference participants. You are encouraged to secure your accommodation when you register to ensure that you receive the competitive rates that have been negotiated for delegates. Accommodation can be booked via the registration form and must be paid in full.

Payment

Registration will be confirmed when payment is received.

Payment methods

Payment can be made by any of the following methods:

  • Credit card ( Visa, MasterCard and American Express): If you are making a credit card payment from a country outside Australia, for security reasons you must first advise your banking institution of the impending charge and authorise them to allow the charge to Australia to go through. Please note that charges to your credit card will appear as being from 'ACORN' on your bank statement.

  • Bank transfer: Please include your surname in the transfer and email or fax the transfer receipt (remittance) to email address: administrator@acorn.org.au or fax number: +61 8 7111 0719 (from outside Australia) or 1300 781 934 (from within Australia).

Payment deadlines

Registrations received by 31 January 2020 must be paid in full by 31 January 2020 in order to receive the early bird registration rate.

Payment plan

ACORN offers a payment plan for the early bird registration fee, to ‘self-funded’ delegates.  Payment can be made in four instalments with the full amount to be paid by 28 February 2020. The final payment must be paid by this date or the registration fee will revert to the standard fee.

Registration cancellation policy

Deadline: 3 April 2020

Cancellations must be notified in writing (email is sufficient) to the Events and Administration Officer at administrator@acorn.org.au.

Cancellations made by 3 April 2020 will result in a full refund less $150 to cover administration costs. Refunds for cancellations received after 3 April 2020 will only be made in exceptional circumstances.

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person by 3 April 2020 without incurring any cost penalty. The Events and Administration Officer must be advised in writing of any alterations or transfers.

The conference committee and its agents reserve the right to alter without prior notice, any of the arrangements, timetables, plans or other items relating to the meeting, for any cause beyond its reasonable control. The organising committee, ACORN staff and volunteers are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused as a result of such alteration. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the organising committee, ACORN staff and volunteers do not accept responsibility for loss of monies caused by delays. Participants are advised to take out personal travel insurance and to extend their policy to cover personal possessions. The conference does not cover individuals against cancellations of bookings or theft of or damage to belongings.
