Full conference registration entitles you to:

  • admission to all conference sessions and exhibition

  • additional - purchase an ACORN Pack - Tea/Coffee, snacks and Merchandise

Gaining support for registration

Many travel and training budgets have been reduced which means that regardless of the merits of a conference, you’ll need to justify the expense. Use the samples below to help you approach your supervisor for support to attend the conference.

Tips on justifying conference expenses

Here are some things to consider.

  • Focus on what you’ll specifically bring to your workplace as return for the investment. 

  • Offer to deliver a short presentation to your co-workers to share what you learnt. That way others in your unit will also benefit from your attendance. 

  • If you’re working to obtain or maintain your certification, remind your supervisor that this is a great way to earn contact hours and it's less expensive than registering for separate conferences and requires less time away from work than attending different events. 

  • Be ready with a plan that shows who could cover your shifts while you’re attending the conference.

  • Be sure to check out the various rates listed at the top of this page to see if you qualify for any of the lower rates or discounts.

Payment

Registration will be confirmed when payment is received.

Payment methods

Payment can be made by any of the following methods:

  • Credit card ( Visa, MasterCard and American Express): If you are making a credit card payment from a country outside Australia, for security reasons you must first advise your banking institution of the impending charge and authorise them to allow the charge to Australia to go through. Please note that charges to your credit card will appear as being from 'ACORN' on your bank statement.

  • Bank transfer: Please include your surname in the transfer and email the transfer receipt (remittance) to email address: accounts@acorn.org.au 

Payment deadlines

Registrations are to be received by 14 days prior to start of event.  This will allow time for access to virtual event to be set up and if you are entitled to an ACORN Pack for it to arrive priot to start of event.

Payment plan

ACORN can offer a payment plan for either the 4 day or institutional registration options.  Payment can be made in two instalments with the full amount to be paid by 14 days from start of initial event. The final payment must be paid by this date or late fees will be applied.

Registration cancellation policy

Deadline: 14 days prior to event start date

Cancellations must be notified in writing (email is sufficient) to the Events and Administration Manager at administrator@acorn.org.au.

Cancellations made by 14 days prior to event start date will result in a refund less 20% to cover administration costs. Refunds for cancellations received within 14 days will only be made in exceptional circumstances.

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person or if in case of a 3 day or 1 day registration to another day without incurring any cost penalty. The Events and Administration Manager must be advised in writing of any alterations or transfers.

The organising committee, ACORN staff and volunteers are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused as a result of such alteration. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the organising committee, ACORN staff and volunteers do not accept responsibility for loss of monies caused by delays. The conference does not cover individuals against cancellations of bookings or theft of or damage to belongings.
