Standards for Perioperative Nursing in Australia

The New ACORN Standards have superseded the 16th edition of Standards for Perioperative Nursing in Australia.

However, there are some standards from the 16th edition which are yet to be updated due to ongoing work in organisations outside of ACORN. As such, these standards still remain pertinent to the clinical setting and should be followed by all perioperative practitioners. They can be accessed through the links below.

Recently archived 16th edition ACORN Standards (June 2024):

  • Performance review (now included in ACORN Standards PPSPNs)
  • Professional development (now included in ACORN Standards PPSPNs)
  • Planning and designing the perioperative environment (refer to Australian Health Facility Guidelines B.0520)
