Surgical plume in the operating room (OR) could rightly be considered a biohazard, though this fact is often neglected. Dr Mok is one of the authors of 'Occupational Hazards of Surgical Smoke and Achieving a Smoke Free Operating Room Environment: Asia-Pacific Consensus Statement on Practice Recommendations' published in for a leading public health journal Frontiers in Public Health.  He will share the potential risks of surgical smoke exposure, the safety precautions and his perspective on implementing smoke evacuation in the hospital.
